Summer of Code!

I'm again mentor, again for the same organizations (Gentoo and FFmpeg), with quite yet another batch of strange ideas and demanding tasks for you.

FFmpeg
With Benjamin Larsson and possibly Kristian Jerpetj

Paludis can already read Portage configuration if you tell it to, so it's not that difficult...

The question is whether it's worth it. emerge's commandline sucks...

I like better the emerge commandline than the paludis one.
I recall that paludis does interpret the portage configuration up to a degree but there aren't facilities to convert from paludis to portage to pkgcore and way back, that could be complex and annoying.

If you're looking to switch between all three package managers, just stick with using the Portage native configuration format (and accept the loss of functionality that that implies).

Easy Gentoo install from within OS X sounds amazing.
